Stages Of Care
Assessment:
Figuring out what’s wrong – that’s the first step in your psychiatric care. In the first appointment, expect targeted questions related to your experience, both recent and historical. The goal is to establish a complete picture of where you’re at – and how this compares to objective diagnostic criteria.
Education:
Knowledge about what ails you is critical to overcoming it. Hence, at Safe Space Healthcare Services, we emphasize psycho-education, namely the process of teaching you about the science underlying your condition – both the neuro-biology and environmental aspects – and what this means for the path to getting better.
Treatment:
Treatment options may include prescribed medication and brief supportive therapy. This two-pronged approach is likely to go hand-in-hand with recommendations for lifestyle adaptations. In regular follow-up appointments, your provider will assess progress and refine treatment.
Appointments and Cancelations
Once you schedule your appointment your appointment time is reserved for you and prevents other patients from using that time. As a courtesy to you, we make appointment reminder phone calls, texts, or emails one to two business days prior to your visit. It is your responsibility to remember and show up for your appointment.
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we need at least 48 hour notice to enable us to schedule someone else. (Sundays and holidays are not business days.) You will be charged a full session rate for any missed appointment that is not cancelled within 48 hours in advance and will not be reimbursed by your health insurance. If you miss two sessions, your provider may discharge you from their service for administrative reasons.
